So often it is easier to complain than to rejoice. I am becoming painfully aware of this fact as I parent these kids :) We have so much to be thankful for. And in our reading from Philippians we discovered the age old truth that when we are thankful the peace of God guards our hearts and minds! This past weekend many of our men accompanied our kids to their annual trip to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso for the softball tournament. While they were gone we had received a "tip" that there were terrorists about, and were advised to cancel our church services. It all turned out to be a false alarm, but we used the opportunity to be thankful for all that we enjoy here in this place and time of our lives. The children who were still here were thankful for the following... a day off school, family, air conditioners, a generator, ability to play :), swimming pools and ice cream!
I did make banana splits for the kids who were left here, of course it is a little more work than doing it in the states, but we are thankful for bananas, strawberries, electric mixers and freezers. Instead of complaining about everything we are trying to turn everything around to praise and thanks.
Thank you.
ps still am in country without a passport... the lastest snag is that they didn't like the shine on my face... so I had my picture retaken with tissue in hand to do last minute blotting!! thankfully the studio only charged me half price this time since it is the third time around!!! Keep praying that passport through!!
Thank you!
